Spring Agora Alicante 2011
AGORA comes from the Greek word “αγορά” and stands for a marketplace. However the word originates from an ancient Greek verb “αγeipw” which means “to assembly”. In ancient Greek cities, an AGORA was an open space serving as an assembly area and backdrop for commercial, civic, social, and religious activities.
This is one of the most important events in AEGEE. Apart from being the venue where the chief officiers of the association are elected, it is also life-changing experiences, with around 800 young Europeans gathering in one place to build the future together.
There are three statutory meetings per year:
- the European Boards’ Meeting (EBM), in early spring.
- two Agorae: a Spring Agora and an Autumn Agora
This April, Alicante will host one of the most relevant events of the European university life: the Agora, which is the general assembly of AEGEE, the biggest European student association. An event where close to a thousand young people from all over Europe meet together for four days in order to discuss topics, exchange experiences and plan the new activities that will be carried out during the following months in all places where AEGEE is active.
As the organizer city, Alicante is very proud of welcoming the delegates from all AEGEE Antennae of Europe. This event implies an unequalled possiblity of being known among the most active European young people.
Spring Agora Alicante 2011 will be a milestone for the youngsters’ and university life from our region. However, not only does it remain inside AEGEE borders but also, as in any other magnificient international event, all sectors of our society have the opportunity to take part.
Therefore, we invite you to join the Spring Agora Alicante 2011 with us in order to make this project a reality, which will become the best visiting card of Alicante, introducing our city to Europe, its university, its institutions, its companies and, in short, everything that makes Alicante be an open-minded city with a bright future.
